Jeanneau is known world wide for its boats, which are built to the highest standards of engineering and quality. But do you have any idea of how this renowned company began its over 60 year boat building history?

It all began in France, in 1957, when Henri Jeaneau discovered his passion for power-boating as he watched a boat pass by his window. He was already passionate about airplanes and automobiles and soon after applied his ingenuity to building a wooden hull with which he won the 6-hour Paris race - the largest national race of its time. Inspired by his win, Henri established “the Nautical Hall of the West”, which a few years later became the Jeanneau shipyards.

As the years progressed, so did Henri’s knowledge and his shipyards. Jeanneau’s first all-fiberglass boat was debuted in 1961, beginning a grand parade of powerboats to be built by the young company. Just a few years later, in 1964, Jeanneau launched its first sailboats and was among the first boatbuilding companies to contribute to and benefit from the increased popularity of pleasure cruising sailboats.

Today Jeanneau sailboats can be found in all corners of the globe and their quality and craftsmanship remain true to their foundations. Quality, safety, and dependability are cornerstones of Jeanneaus sailboats, along with timeless beauty.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of sailing aboard a Jeanneau, go along to one of their Summer Sailstice Rendezvous and see if you can hope aboard.

In the meantime, Sign up and add your sailing plans to be in the running for this excellent Helly Hansen backpack, donated by Jeanneau.
