So what are we doing here at Summer Sailstice to get ready for this annual migration of sailboats back into the water?

We’re in full swing organizing our website, and gathering stories, sponsorship and prizes. Already several of our long-term supporters have signed up for 2016! Here’s a quick run down on who’s back and what’s on offer:

Ocean Navigator Magazine are donating 5 x digital magazine subscriptions, a pair of Ocean Navigator Whiskey Glasses, plus a $100 voucher for a Celestial Navigation Course! Each of these great prizes are up for grabs, and any one of them would be a great addition to any sailors’ swag collection or knowledge base.

Sailors for the Sea are back onboard and have donated 10 prizes of a 1-year Ocean Watch Magazine subscription together with a set of Bamboo To-Go Ware. Now in its 11th year, this great organization continues to work for the health of our oceans by creating opportunities and resources which enable sailors (and all boaters) to take part in caring for the marine environment.

We also welcome back UK Sailmakers who have donated two great prizes. First up, you could win one of three Rules Quiz Programs. Based on Racing Rules and updates by the International Sailing Federation, this program is accessible from multiple platforms including your phone and boat computer, and has been called “the easiest way to learn the Racing Rules of Sailing.” Or you could win one of three UK Sailmakers embroidered ribbon, cotton webbing belts - a perfect complement to your sailing-swag collection! Since 1946 this quality loft has been providing sailors worldwide with well-designed, long-lasting sails. So although you’re not going to win a new set of sails, you’ll still be a winner with either of these two great prizes.

How about a pair of Chafe Guards from Spiroll Chafe Guards?

Made from rugged polyurethane and with a longer-lasting resistance to rot, grime, and UV than other chafe gear, Spirolls Chafe Guards are easy to fit and are removable. Plus they won’t leave unsightly black streaks on your boat. Sound good? Well Spirolls have donated 6 pairs for Summer Sailstice 2016, so all you need to do is remember to Sign up and get out on the water on the weekend of June 18/19!

For those sailors who love the ‘old school’ fiberglass cruising sailboats, Good Old Boat Magazine is offering five full-year magazine subscriptions in a choice of print or digital. This do-it-yourself magazine is filled with articles about refitting and upgrading these lovely sailboats. With resources such as books, videos, catalogs, directories and classifieds, this magazine is a great resource if you’re working on a project, and just a great read even if you’re not!

Here are some handy items you might be able to use… Davis Instruments have come back for Summer Sailstice 2016 and have donated two prizes - a Shockles Line Snubber, and a Windex. Davis Instruments is a privately held manufacturing company located in California, and prides itself on innovation and high-quality products and services covering weather, marine, and automotive use.

And… We welcome back Zeko Shoes for 2016! Zeko Shoes have returned to offer Summer Sailstice sailors the chance to win a pair of their lightweight ‘high-performance’ deck shoes which feature comfort, vented slip-resistant soles, velcro strapping, and are fast drying. Plus if you want to win these shoes, but just can’t wait, Zeko are continuing their offer of $25 off purchases online at http://zekoshoes.com with coupon code “sailzeko25”. What a great way to prepare for your summer of sailing!

So now that we have your attention… stand by for next week's update! In the meantime,  remember to Sign up for Summer Sailstice 2016 and add your event to our Sailing/Events page. Then just sit back and keep an eye on our News, Facebook and Instagram pages for updates and interesting sailing tidbits, and the cold weather will be over before you can shout “jib sheets”!
