Our Clinics are a great opportunity to sail the Club boats, boost confidence and sailing skills, making friends in the process. Sessions are also desirable for:
- ASA students who have used all their hours and want more practice before taking the 101 test
- Community Sailors who have passed ASA 101, but want more practice before taking the Check Out Exam
- Anybody that needs a refresher or wants to hone basic sailing skills
- The person who wants to crew on a race boat and isn't sure how
- Members who want to meet others to sail with
This session will include but not be limited to the following:
Hoisting and determining proper halyard tension
Better sail trim: when to let out, when to sheet in
Sharpen tacks and gybes
Tighter mark roundings
Better wind awareness
Proper helm to crew communication
Crew and helmsman awareness-what is going on inside and outside of boat
Tighter mark roundings

Improving all skills necessary for safe, enjoyable, recreational sailing
In order to participate in Performance Clinics, we ask that you reserve your spot at least 48 hours in advance unless approved by the instructors. There is no refund for cancellations. Clinics start promptly at the clubhouse at 10:00. Please plan on arriving a little early. Sessions generally go until 1:00. Times may change depending on the weather. Participants will be notified 24 hours in advance of changes. Guests are welcome to participate; however, we ask that everyone have prior sailing experience. PFDs must be worn at all times. All those sailing MUST have a liability waiver on file. Forms are available at layc.org and at the front desk.

For those of you who have not joined us for this activity, Performance Clinics are structured, on the water and class sessions that are approximately 2-3 hours long and are led by guest experts. There is a fee ($10.00 members/$20.00 non-members) for those attending.
