The Summer Sailstice Events Keep Coming!

We've posted a few stories about Summer Sailstice events and sailing plans that are set to take place around the country and around the world, and just when we think everyone has signed up and added their plans, the events keep coming. It's fantastic to see so many open days, regattas, raft ups, races, cruises... the list and variety of celebratory plans is longer than my halyard!

Community Sailing of Colorado in, you guessed it, Colorado is hosting an Open Sail BBQ.
"This is our first year hosting Open Sail BBQs and we couldn't be more excited!"
The event is open to past lesson participants, volunteers, staff, and family and will be "a night full of food, sailing, and fun." Participants are able to take out any boat they feel comfortable in with dedicated staff and volunteers on hand to help if needed.

Nevada Yacht Club has planned a Sunset Sail and Raft-Up!
Sailors and their crew, friends and family are invited to join the fleet for a sunset sail and raft-up starting from the dock of the Boathouse restaurant at around 4pm to go "wherever the wind takes us!" Raft up, swim, stay for supper or stay overnight!

Gull Lake Yacht Club's "Super Saturday" will consist of Fleet races followed by a party at the clubhouse! If you're in Michigan, stop by and join the fun.

Jezsustice is more than this crew's first Summer Sailstice. This event marks the first ever sailing season for  Jezsu, the Hungarian Jesuit High School and comes after a year and a half of discussions and planning. The school's sailing program will take place on Lake Tisza and launch with one boat - a MacGregor 26 which was donated by a parent of one of the school's students. It goes to show that persistence can and does pay off.

"It is the beginning of the school's sailing adventure. We will not have fireworks, and we need to overcome difficulties in daily  base, but we will not stop. The water is waiting us and the wind is ready. Someday we will cross the ocean as well. Someday..." - Salty Priest

If you're in or near California's Silicon Valley, perhaps you want to join Shoreline Lake's weekend of sailing and celebration - free skippered sailboat rides for kids (ages 2-12), racing demos for Newbies/Non-Sailors, and a free 30-minute intro lesson to sailing with the purchase of a Picnic Basket+Sailing package.

Peter Arndt, a member of Orr's Bailey Yacht Club, ME in will be sailing in Stockholm, Sweden

Yorgos Doumas will be sailing in Methana, Greece aboard his Carter 33, Eleonora.

If you happen to be in Osaka, Japan, Japan Marine Recreational Association is offering discounts for the 1 Kyu or 2 Kyu Japan Small Boat License Exam.

Also in Osaka, Yoh Aoki is planning to sail on Osaka Bay, Japan.

Gregory Mulvany will be 'tied up' in Catamaran Marina in Rio Dulce, Guatemala "...so we can expand our cruising capabilities by taking a Spanish immersion class."
