Is It Time To Go Sailing Yet?

Is It Time To Go Sailing Yet?

Happy Saturday! Hopefully you’re enjoying some warm sunny weather now, after such a lot of snow on the East Coast. For a while there I thought it was going to snow right here in Florida. Though I’m happy to say it didn’t, and that we are actually having a very nice day, which is making me think of all the sailing opportunities coming up with the approaching summer.

I know the long, sunny days are still a few months away, but surely it’s not too early to start planning?

Here at Summer Sailstice we’re getting ready by welcoming aboard sponsors and prize donors, both new and old, for the June celebrations.

Have you signed up yet? Make sure you have, because here is a peek at some of the prizes donated for this year's celebration.

Cruising Outpost has donated 25 digital subscriptions to its quarterly magazine in which you can learn what it’s really like once you cast off on your seaward adventure. Of course if you don’t want to wait for June, subscribe now and do your reading before the summer arrives, then you’ll definitely be ready!

You’ll need some good carry bags while you’re out sailing, and even while you’re preparing, so check out this Sailcloth Tote Bag from Quantum Sails. It’s made from durable membrane sailcloth and comes with a comfy 24” shoulder strap - perfect for carrying your beach gear or provisions for your Summer Sailstice celebration. Oh wait, to do that you’d need to have one before June right? In that case, take a look at Quantum’s website and buy one ahead of time. You can never have too many sailcloth totes.

Don’t forget life jackets! Spinlock has donated the Deckvest LITE, which will be won by a lucky Summer Sailstice sailor. At only 38lbs this would have to be one of the most lightweight and comfortable vests available. So as you’re planning ahead for the summer sailing season, take a look at Spinlock’s website - you might just want to buy one now instead of waiting until June.

Weems & Plath, known for its line of meticulously crafted time and weather instruments, wants to help make sure you don’t ever miss the boat again. So make sure you’re signed up for Summer Sailstice to be in the drawing for a Weems & Plath Nautical Clock. These clocks don’t just keep time, they also look good. In fact, these clocks look so good that if you’re not careful you’ll miss the boat, because you’ve spent all your time admiring your new clock. Want to take a look at their entire range? So now that we’ve got you organized to get out on the water, what about some peace of mind in case of breakdown, or the all-too-embarrassing fuel shortage? Summer Sailstice sponsor and prize donor, BoatU.S., is celebrating its 50th year and has donated a 1-year BoatU.S. Unlimited Saltwater Towing Membership. Hopefully you'll never need to call them, but it’s a good idea to be prepared should the unexpected occur on the water. Take a look at the other memberships available at BoatU.S..

And the next step is? Sign up for Summer Sailstice and set your sails on June 18/19 to be in the running for these and other great prizes!

See you on the water...
