Summer Sailstice, Summer Solstice, Supermoon and sailing

Hey, it's Summer Sailstice weekend and what more could we all ask for?  As you know Summer Sailstice always guarantees sunshine for the Summer Sailstice weekend (somewhere).  We've also read the bumper sticker, 'The worst day sailing is still better than the best day working.'  So, regardless of what the day looks like where you are, know you're starting a great summer of sailing with thousands of like-minded people around the world.  In addition, these are the longest days of the year and this year we have a 'supermoon' to boot!  That's the largest full moon of the year on Saturday night.

With a supermoon your Summer Sailstice sailing adventures don't have to end at sunset (which never happens in Stockholm  or Anchorage).  With all the moonlight sails we see on the event page it looks as though a lot of Sailstice celebrants won't event start their sail until sunset and, at the very least, many certainly won't stop by then.

Remember - we do have a Summer Sailstice photo contest (more here).  Wherever, however and with whomever your sailing - smile lots, take lots of pictures and send your best one in to abby@summersailstice.com - you could take home a GoPro Hero HD3 for your troubles.  And shoot some video too!  This year we're building our youtube video channel and need some material.

You can sail anytime this weekend and, if you're signed up by midnight on Sunday, you'll be eligible for our prize drawing too.

Have a great Summer Sailstice weekend and a great summer of sailing ahead.

Relax and enjoy.
