Kiting, Foiling, Sailing?

Kiting, Foiling, Sailing?

What we call sailing continues to expand.  There was a day when a dhow on the Nile was the only sailboat on the planet.  How that's changed!  The South Pacific was populated by Polynesians sailing outrigger multihulls.  Now, thousands of years later, the vision of sailing continues to evolve.  Johnny Heineken, world champion kiteboarder and US Rolex 'Yachtsman' of the year, gives us a good demonstration of what happens when combine a new hull (board), a new centerboard (foil) and a new sail (kite).

Just one more fabulous way to have fun under sail.  What do you think?

We're happy to have Johnny and all kiteboarders as part of the sailing 'mosh pit' - all those who collect on the water to move a vessel through the water under sail.  We're just dying to learn how to do this.  Better get on it soon.

Sailing's come a long way over the last 4,000 years.
