As an important part of Summer Sailstice, Encinal Yacht Club is pleased to allow a limited number of rides on various boats provided by volunteers of the club. This experience is provided to introduce the public to the on the water experience available on the Oakland Estuary and San Francisco Bay. We will have a wide variety of boats available, from racing sloops to cruising yachts to sail training vessels, and even a large trawler-style power boat. No experience is necessary, although some boats may require some agility to board, sail and disembark. Each ride lasts about 45 minutes, and will depart and return to the Encinal Yacht Club docks.
All riders must be able to swim. PFD’s (personal flotation devices or life jackets) will be provided by the boat operator or the Club, and are madatory. A liability release document will need to need signed by each rider or their guardian. Kids must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
While these rides are provided by the volunteers free of charge, we do ask that if able, riders contribute a donation to the Encinal Junior Sailing Program.
The boat ride program begins at 11:00AM and concludes at 5:00PM. Riders are encouraged to arrive early, as the boat rides are often booked up early. Signups are at the tent with the sign “Boat Rides” on the lawn near the flag poles.
Free rides on sailboats are provided by members of Encinal Yacht Club.
