Summer Sailstice 2017 was a great success and sailors everywhere are sending in photos and reports of their celebrations. We're compiling the stories and photos to share and to inspire to you send us yours. Here are some events from Sausalito in northern California's Bay Area.
Club Nautique in Sausalito, and Alameda, hosted an Open Day and invited the public to come aboard and enjoy a sail on San Francisco Bay. Club Nautique's Captain Thomas took Ben, Feranc and Greg for a fun sail on the bay aboard 'As You Wish'. The crew were pretty pleased and will no doubt be back for more.

Spaulding Marine Center (formerly Spaulding Wooden Boat Center), Sausalito held an Open Day drop-in and BBQ. The center was founded in 1951 by local boating legend, Myron Spaulding. After Myron's passing in 2000, his wife established a trust to ensure the continuation of Myron's legacy.
Today the center is operated with the assistance of volunteers and has become a valuable resource for boating enthusiasts of all ages. Spaulding Marine Center houses an interesting maritime museum, and conducts regular classes and seminars on all aspects of sailing, wooden boats and boat building. Spaulding volunteer, Richard took a moment to share some of his knowledge about the center.

Sausalito's Modern Sailing School & Club held club sails and a pizza party!
Modern Sailing's members and their guests were treated to sailing on the bay, and one adventurous group departed the docks at 5pm with the intention of enjoying what turned out the be a spectacular sunset, and the long twilght that followed.
Skipper Kevin (blue cap & Summer Sailstice shirt) and his crew prepare for the day's last sail, which was due to return to dock at 10pm. How good is summer?!
