Sailing Takes All Forms As Blokart Joins the America's Cup

The past two years Summer Sailstice has had land sailors participating on the great salt flats of the American West.  The Nevada Windseekers Blokart Club in Austin Nevada has sailed the gritty, speedy, flatlands of Nevada at high speed for years.  So it must be nice to see the America's Cup is joining their game.  The AC is now adding land sailing as part of their community outreach programs in Bermuda.  It's striking when you're on a small island in the middle of the Atlantic to take up land sailing but really all you need is wind and some flat space and Blokart sailing will leave you smiling.  We hope the AC and Blokart sailors will join us again to celebrate sailing in 2016.

Here's more from the America's Cup:

From sea to land, young participants in the America’s Cup community sailing initiative, Endeavour, will learn to harness the power of wind wherever they are with the addition of Blokart International ltd. as an Official Supplier.

Blokart, the wheeled land sailing karts, will be used for training and racing as the kids hone their skills.

“Blokarts will serve as tools in helping the Endeavour kids better understand engineering and apparent wind sailing – similar to the concepts for the America’s Cup yachts,” said Tom Herbert-Evans, the Community Sailing Program manager for the America’s Cup.
