Charlie and Cathy Simon hosted a presentation on the "Science of Sailing" aboard their yacht   ...

"We wanted to give back to the sailing community after our recent world circumnavigation.  So we partnered with Sail Nauticus in Norfolk, VA to hold a presentation on the "Science of Sailing" followed by an on-board open house on our boat "Celebrate". This was the first time for many of the attendees to see how a blue-water sailor is equipped and talk to people about the experience. Their enthusiasm was its own reward.

The picture is of "Celebrate" at the Nauticus Dock with all our flags up.  The smaller boats at the dock are the Sail Nauticus training boats which are put to good use every day.

Thanks to Sail Nauticus for their support and to everyone who joined us."

Sail Nauticus is a Norfolk based non-profit organization committed to positively inspiring, instructing, and impacting Hampton Roads kids through the use of sailing and maritime sciences.

They offer programs specific for the younger sailors and include  Sail Quest summer camps and their flagship initiative, the Sail Nauticus Academy
Both programs partner with Norfolk schools to enroll children ages 10-18. In addition to kids how to sail, the Academy teaches them important math, science, and leadership skills that will help them throughout their lives.

Sail Nauticus also offer private sailing cruisessailing lessons, memberships, and corporate outings, which fund their mission and provide a number of opportunities for everyone in the community to get out on the water.
