Videos are something realtively new to Summer Sailstice – especially invitation vids. But they are popping up as the event – scheduled for this weekend, June 20-21 – approaches. Here are a few featuring some better-known sailors who will be taking part. . .and a good way to start thinking about the video you'll enter in the video contest powered by Harken!

National Sailing Hall of Fame member, Paul Cayard, has in a multitude of championship sailing events includingthe Olympis, seven America's Cups, has been US Rolex Yachtsman of the Year and won seven world championships, won the Whitbread Round the World Race and 2nd in a subsequent Volvo Ocean Race is also calling out for everyone to get out on the water and hoist their sails for Summer Sailsatice. 

 

Annie Gardner has earned dozens of sailing championships, titles and “womens’ firsts” in sailing, including being the navigator and trial horse helmswoman for the 1995 America’s Cup team America3. She is presently a sought-after skipper, team builder and adjunct professor with the University of Denver’s College of Business. For Summer Sailstice, she will be sailing aboard El Gato in the Mediterranean and also celebrating the 1st anniversary of her Summer Sailstice wedding in the BVI in 2014!  Congratulations Annie.  And, via video, she invites all sailors to join her this coming weekend: 

Charlie Ogletree is a four time Olympian (and silver medalist in Tornados with partner John Lovell in 2004), and one of the most highly regarded and sought-after strategists/tacticians on the planet. He’ll be sailing the Swan 90 Odin in Palma this coming weekend. He reports in from Turkey: 

Skip Novak is a veteran of four Whitbread Round-the-World Races, the skipper of 110-ft catamaran Innovation Explorer in 2000’s The Race (also around the world), and more recently winner of the Cruising Club of America’s Blue Water Medal for his many years of cruising, chartering and exploring the Antarctic and other frigid climes. On Summer Sailstice, he’ll be sailing his Laser in Cape Town. He checks in here:  

Lin and Larry Pardey are widely-known cruisers, boatbuilders and authors of dozens of cruising books and. They will be spending their Summer Sailstice on the winter solstice – the shortest day of the year – in the southern hemisphere. See Lin’s invitation here:
