The Muskegon Power Squadron, the Muskegon Fire Department and Torresen Marine also are holding a joint free activity from noon to 1:00 p.m. Boaters and guests of all ages are invited to participate in the use of a chemical fire extinguisher. Several extinguishers will be available. Most boaters, their crew, family and guests generally know where these items are located on a boat and have a general idea how to operate them. Fortunately very few boaters have actually had to use a fire extinguisher, an emergency handheld flare or red aerial signal. This event will be a rare opportunity to get familiar with using them. Extinguishers were loaned to this event by Cofessco Fire Protection LLC. Also if you have a chemical extinguisher(s), flares or aerial rockets, feel free to bring them for supervised use at the safe site of Torresen Marine ONLY during this supervised event.
