Sierra Nevada Community Sailing
The Sierra Nevada Community Sailing program is bringing sailing to everybody this Summer Sailstice! Anyone interested in sailing is welcomed by the Sierra Nevada Community Sailing program to show up at the docks of Sparks Marina for free boat rides starting at 1:30 and lasting 2 hours. Then at 3:30, everyone involved with the Sierra Nevada Community Sailing program will sail over to the beach where a BBQ potluck and refreshments are being served. Everyone is bringing out umbrellas, beach chairs, blankets, beach balls, Frisbees and coolers and joining in on the fun! Sierra Nevada Community Sailing is Nevada's first and only non-profit educational community sailing program and depends upon volunteer work and donations. They provide sailing lessons and camps for all ages (age 8 through adults) to improve and build sailing skills in all levels. They supply the instructors, boats, gear and terrific sailing venue along with lots of fun (and safety)! As well, they teach courses in boat building and repair. Summer Sailstice and Sierra Nevada Community Sailing share a similar vision: getting people out on the water in boats powered by sail. Therefore we commend the Sierra Nevada Community Sailing program for helping to reach our goal and get people of all ages and skill level out on the water and having fun!
