CELEBRATE RACING EXCITEMENT & CRUISING FUN
New Bay Area Sailing Events Presented at Booths 725, 800 & 801
Strictly Sail Pacific April 19 - 23

Sausalito, Calif. April 17, 2006 – Visit San Francisco Speed Sailing Management , Summer Sailstice and the Treasure Island Sailing Center (TISC), at Strictly Sail Pacific where racers and cruisers alike will find innovative new sailing events scheduled for summer 2006.

“We’re collectively working to create meaningful racing and cruising sailing events to include all sailors and non-sailors, young and old, to help grow this great sport and celebrate the fabulous sailing environment we have here in the Bay Area,” said Carisa Harris, TISC president and 2006 US Sailing Team Member.  “Participating at the show helps us reach out to an audience we believe are looking for new ways to enjoy their sailing passion.”

  1. During the weekend of June 17-18, 2006, there will be a huge celebration of sailing on San Francisco Bay, designed to get people out on the water both on boats and as spectators simply enjoying the aquatic beauty.  These events include a Summer Sailstice celebration of sailing at TISC, on San Francisco’s fabulous Treasure Island, on Saturday June 17, 2006.
  2. Now in it's sixth year and founded by Bay Area sailors, Summer Sailstice is a global celebration of sailing held annually on the solstice.  Destined to be one of the largest Summer Sailstice celebrations in the country, the event will be held at the TISC facilities on the shores of Clipper Cove.  The fund raiser will include all sailors in a wide variety of events, from races to cruise-ins, with the goal of celebrating Bay Area sailing and raising funds to support the numerous outreach sailing programs offered by the Treasure Island Sailing Center. http://www.summersailstice.com//.

The San Francisco Speed Sailing Event on June 15-18, 2006, marks the first time on mainland USA that a variety of watercraft will set out to create and break speed sailing records – on the Bay.  Sailors and vessels nationwide and internationally are expected to participate.  Sailing event management specialists, Matt Jones and Michelle Slade have created this new annual event which holds broad appeal across all ages and boat designs.  Hosted by the Golden Gate Yacht Club, this event is about sailing fast and breaking records on the unique San Francisco Bay. www.sanfranciscospeed.com
