Summer Sailstice - Sail locally, celebrate globally

"This is a great idea. We love to get folks out on their boats having fun in a non-competitive manner."

San Diego—“Need to Bring Nothing, and Lots of It!”

O’Day 26 sailor Ron Wood posted the above quote on our website for his Sailstice plans, and we were intrigued. When asked to elaborate, he replied that he and a group of friends, all nudists, began talking about celebrating a nude Sailstice—for one thing, it makes it easy to pack.

It all depends, of course, on the weather. Believe it or not, Southern California can get hit with chilly weather in June—they call it the “June Gloom. But sun or gloom, these sailors will be spending their Sailstice enjoying themselves, relaxing and having fun on the water. As Ron says “We have no plan and we’re sticking to it! (We try to avoid making commitments when we’re sailing—it sort of defeats the purpose.)”

We always like to encourage Sailstice celebrants to order a few Summer Sailstice t-shirts to spread the word about the sailing holiday. For some reason, this group wasn’t that interested.Oh well, we suppose selling t-shirts to nudists is kind of like selling ice to the Eskimos. In any case, celebrating Summer Sailstice doesn’t require elaborate plans or gear.Keep your Summer Sailstice simple like this group of bare-bones sailors. Just get out there and sail, clothes or no clothes!
