In the spirit of sailing and participation in Summer Sailstice, SFYC (Tiburon, Calif.) has announced that it will host a new event, The Blue Chip Perpetual Trophy on June 21, sponsored by the club's New Wave group.

The PHRF race will be sailed from SFYC to Bonita Cove and back. Complimentary beer & hors d’oeuvres, with a BBQ & music on the club deck will follow - $8/Dinner. For information contact Kyla Moore on 415-269-4443 (cell) or Sean Callinan on 415-497-1675 (cell).

Entry Fee $25.00. Why enter? Why not!

The Blue Chip Perpetual Trophy has been donated by Walt Logan, a long-time and well-renowned SFYC club member. Walt Logan was instrumental in the rejuvenation of the New Wave, by bringing his younger crew into the club. Walt continues to give all types of racers opportunities to sail with him on his Farr 40, Blue Chip.

Walt takes endless numbers of sailors sailing during the Friday night series as well as on the official season regattas including Midnight Moonlight and the Vallejo Season Opener to name a few. Walt’s generosity has opened the door to a number of up and coming sailors, as well as those who are out for the fun of it.

New Wave’s charter:
To help facilitate the development of new SFYC members between the ages of 21 and 40, as well re-engage the existing members who fall within this age range. Our emphasis on "quality" rather than "quantity", will ensure that these new members share in the common objectives of the SFYC. We believe these common objectives to include participation in boating and sailing activities and the enjoyment of all the social aspects SFYC has to offer. New Wave is focused on increasing the membership within the 21-40 age range, but it's very important that we integrate ourselves with all members of any age. - Kyla Moore, New Wave committtee member.
