In part, Summer Sailstice is a response to the desire to celebrate everyone’s ‘random act of sailing’. While sailors who travel with their boats to the many fun rallies and regattas seem to get most of the press and prizes we recognize most sailors are just out there on their own enjoying a day on the water. Whether a cruiser or daysailor most sailors simply long for a day under sail, often on their own enjoying the peace and freedom sailing gives.
By offering a day to celebrate and a way to connect, Summer Sailstice has brought the chance for every sailor to participate with the global sailing community and a chance to win terrific prizes. No rules, no fees, no regulations, no start time and no excuses not to go out and have fun!
So whether you sail a leaky catboat on a small freshwater pond or are racing the most testosterone laden, techno powered wave slapper around we can all celebrate together at least once a year. Plus, you don’t have to go anywhere. Sail like you always do, where you always go, with the friends you enjoy. Have a party – go alone whatever suits your sailing style.
We’re all lucky to be sailors and that’s reason enough to celebrate on the water everywhere. So go out for your own ‘random act of sailing’ and know we’ll be out there sailing and celebrating with you.
