San Francisco, CA, May 14, 2004 - Offshore Sailing School, celebrating its fortieth anniversary in 2004, is offering new and developing students a chance to learn from the best by winning the Summer Sailstice drawing for their $2,000 'Fast Track to Cruising Course'. Begun in 1964 in Manhattan and now celebrating their 40th year Offshore Sailing School hosts sailing lessons in ten locations - on the Eastern seaboard, Gulf of Mexico, British Virgin Islands, Bahamas and St. Martins.
'Summer Sailstice gives sailors a chance to celebrate the great joy sailing brings to their lives', says Doris Colgate off Offshore Sailing. ' It's a great way for all of us to connect with the over 100,000 students we've taught during the past 40 years no matter where they now sail and it's an opportunity for us to reward a new sailor or upgrade the skills of a current sailor with our 'Fast Track to Cruising' prize. All this just for going sailing on the longest weekend days of the year sounds like a fun idea to us.'
As of May 14th there are over 800 people signed up worldwide and still over five weeks to go before the event tracking well ahead of last years 1400 sailors who signed up, sailed and celebrated.
