Jean Hurley of Sandwich, MA won the Fast Track to CruisingÆ Course through a random drawing, simply by showing up at the event. The Fast Track course combines a Learn to Sail course with a Bareboat Preparation course. Jean and her husband Joe, sail their Hunter 30 Callisto "for the pure enjoyment of it" and look forward to meeting other sailors who share their interest. By taking the Fast Track course, Jean hopes to become a more confident sailor. "My husband is the more experienced sailor and captain," she said, "while I'm the less-experienced mate. I would like to become more confident in my own abilities and more comfortable at the helm," she said. "What I like most about sailing is the peace and tranquility. As parents of two teenagers, this is very precious and important. I'm really looking forward to this course; it sounds like a lot of fun!"

"Summer Sailstice gives sailors a chance to celebrate the great joy that sailing brings to their lives," said Doris Colgate, CEO of Offshore Sailing School. "It's a great way for all of us to connect with over 100,000 students we've taught during the past 40 years, no matter where they now sail, and it's an opportunity for us to reward a new sailor or upgrade the skills of a current sailor."

"Sailors love the concept of an international sailing holiday," said John Arndt, founder of Summer Sailstice. "The 2005 event is scheduled for the weekend of June 18 and 19 and assures more parties, more sailors, and more celebrations! The 2004 Summer Sailstice doubled its enrollment, just shy of 2800 sailors, up from 1400 in 2003," he said.

Offshore Sailing School has graduated more than 100,000 men and women who, since 1964, have discovered the adventure of sailing. The school offers sail and power instruction for all ages. In addition to coed courses in beginning and advanced sailing techniques, Offshore provides programs for women, families, racing sailors and corporate or incentive programs for positive team building.
