"This is a great idea. We love to get folks out on their boats having fun in a non-competitive manner."

April’s West Marine Winner is from Deep Creek YC, Brooklyn, NY — Fuggedaboutit!

click for larger viewBill Woodroffe, Commodore of Deep Creek Yacht Club, was the April winner of West Marine’s $200.00 gift certificate.  Do you think that improving Brooklyn’s image was on his mind? H e says the prize really came in handy, as he used it “to buy an accumulator tank for my Vagabond 47 so that using the faucet in the head doesn't sound like bursts of machine gun fire from the water pressure pump! ”Whew! Thanks, Bill. We were just starting to wonder if it was safe to encourage folks to join your 2nd annual Summer Sailstice raft-up in Dead Horse Bay.

Deep Creek YC, the sponsor of the raft-up, is located on Barren Island. Despite the cheery geographical names of the region’s landmarks, the photos here from last year’s Sailstice party look like these folks know how to have fun in a beautiful bay.  As they did last year, DCYC is inviting all boats in Jamaica Bay to join them for a weekend of sailing on June 18th and 19th, including a raft-up on the 19th. Dead Horse Bay can accommodate up to 200 boats, so there should be room for everyone. Don’t miss the 4 p.m. sounding of Bells & Whistles to welcome in summer.  Sun food and beverages will be shared by all.
