Summer Sailstice - Sail locally, celebrate globally

"This is a great idea. We love to get folks out on their boats having fun in a non-competitive manner."

Ohio Celebration- Alum Creek Sailing Association

For an interesting twist on celebrating on the longest day of the year, in Ohio the Alum Creek Sailing Association will actually be sailing at  night by getting together for a moonlight sail on the Sailstice.  They’ll be gathering on their ASCA docks located on Alum Creek Lake just North of Columbus.

Saturday, June 21st,2008 on Alum Creek Lake sounds like a romantic, moonlit evening and another great way to celebrate sailing on the water.  A quick look at the club’s website shows an idyllic marina filled with all sorts of sailboats – just the way it should be.  We can imagine it a perfect time refreshments and a stroll on the docks. Afterwards they’ll be unfurling the sails for the night-time sail. ASCA suggests all members anchor in the cove to keep the fun going later into the night. The refreshments and dock walk will be served around 6:30 and the sail will begin with everyone at 9:30 pm. For directions visit http://alumcreeksailing.com/ACSAAbout.aspx.

The Alum Creek Sailing Associationin Ohio is a club of 130 members from sailing families, individual sailors, to sailing enthusiasts and people from all different ages and professions. The boats range form monohulls, to catamarans, to tri-hulls that reside in 135 slips for sailboats only.  Sounds like our kind of club and out kind of evening!
