Northwest by Northwest by North

It's a popular week for the North! For some reason the most recent three events to post their invitation on the Summer Sailstice site all have North in their name: Sail Northwest in Seattle, the NorthWest Sailing Association in Chicago and the Northstar Sail Club in Detroit.  It's a sure sign of spring and a sign that all these sailors in the North are getting ready to start sailing soon.

All named with North but all in different locations with different types of sailing activities planned.  Sail Northwest in Seattle is inviting folks to try a sportboat ride on a variety of sportboats, a J/70, Melges, J/80, Viper or VXone.  You can RSVP to their event here and show up and have a great time on some great new boats.

Check out the sport boat world aboard a J/70 at Sail Northwest.

At the NorthWest Sailing Club in Chicago they'll be enjoying an 'all member' sail while inviting new members to join the organization.  They run a busy schedule of events from May through October.  You can RSVP for the NorthWest Sailing Club event here.

The Northstar Sail Club says this about themselves: Located near the mouth of the Clinton River in Harrison Township, Michigan, North Star Sail Club has served the interests of ‘Sailors of modest means’ since 1946. The club currently has nearly 300 active members from throughout the Detroit area.  Their Summer Sailstice plans will be held this year at the beautiful Keans Marina, the Tiki bar will be open, the live music will be playing, the pool will be refreshing, and the hot tub will be bubbling!  But there's lots more going on.  Check it out and RSVP here.

There's some beautiful sailing on the Detroit river from the Northstar Sailing Club.

As we connect sailors in a worldwide celebration of sailing we're connecting clubs and organizations too - like all those that have North in their name.  All lined up on just about the same latitude too.  Besides events from 'the North' there are already loads of events from the East, West and South but you're still encouraged to add yours to the map.  We're getting set up so we can all go sailing 'together' on the Summer Sailstice weekend.  Find an event, a partner, a friend and hoist your sails for Summer Sailstice and you'll be sailing with all the organizations from all four corners of the globe.  Fair Winds.
