J/Boats invites owners to sail for Sailstice

June 17, 2013 by jarndt

J/Boats has been building boats since the introduction of the ubiquitous J/24 in 1977.  Now, with boats scattered across the globe, the J/Boat family of sailors has found success in both the racing and cruising realm.  One of their cruising owners was just written up in the Wall Street Journal describing their long-term cruising aboard their J/42.  And, on this Summer Sailstice weekend, dozens of J/Boats will be headed out to Block Island for Block Island Race Week.  Here's their note to J/Boat owners and a link to the rest of the comprehensive J/Newsletter!

Celebrate Summer Sailstice!

Help Planet Earth Stay Crystal Blue & Vibrantly Green!
(San Francisco, CA)- Founded in 2001 by John Arndt, as the global, annual celebration of sailing held on the weekend closest to the summer solstice, the annual "Summer Sailstice" sailing event is free to all participants and has grown from 200 boats signed up in 2001 to almost 5,000 boats today!

Since many sailors join in the fun on many different boats, the actual number of Summer Sailstice sailors participating is estimated at almost 19,000 annually.

In joining with Sailors for the Sea, Summer Sailstice (http://www.summersailstice.com) strives to inform and mobilize sailors, their families and communities to enjoy and conserve the beauty of the oceans and while raising awareness of human impacts on the fragile marine environment and wildlife.
