Holopuni Canoes Tahiti on the water for Summer Sailstice!

Nick Beck and Kavika Knight from Holopuni Canoes tell the tales of salty adventures from the Society Islands, French Polynesia with their sailing canoes crossing all the way from Tahiti to Moorea...

Kavika reports on the great day of racing:

We had the second sailing canoe regatta of our season here … and Manu Ura once again took line honours with 9 minutes on Yves after a 28 miles crossing from Tahiti to Moorea. It was a beam reach the whole way with a beam swell too, so not much surfing. 3 hours 1 minute for Manu Ura.  Holopuni canoes were 1-2-3.

Love, Kavika

And NIck updates us on some recent gatherings as the canoe crews get back on the water for a great summer of fun:

Congrats again to our Holopuni Canoes Tahiti rep Kavika Knight for once again putting on another great event…and winning it again! Kavika reports that the first Tahiti built Holopuni is now out of the mold and will be ready to sail in their July 18 race.

I had the opportunity to sail recently with Kris Kadzielawa who has his Holopuni at Sunset Beach, Oahu. We got in a fantastic 3 hour sail and I tried out his new thru hull rudder set up which he installed following a shoulder injury that prevented him from steering with a paddle…BTW  it was amazing and it works. Main thing is that this got him back on the water fully stoked.

Lots of Holopuni Days here on Kauai with captains Steve Long, Bob Kaden, Mike Schultz, Nick Beck, Hobey Beck and others just now getting their canoe back on the water for summer adventures. Dale Hope and the Oahu Holopuni’s also are back in the water as are the Holopuni Maui gang with Mike Buden and crews.

HAVE A HOLOPUNI DAY !

Aloha, Nick
