Catalina Yachts - Sailing the Boats that Frank Built!

Frank Butler said that when he founded Catalina Yachts in 1970, his goal was to build good boats that are good value for his customers, and that Catalinas are “the result of listening carefully to our customers and dealers.”

So rather than reinvent the wheel with each new design, Frank’s team incorporated the Catalina’s “proven features with new ideas and a lot of boatowners´ suggestions,” resulting in the line’s continuity and good resale value. A philosophy which has given Catalina the “biggest percentage of repeat customers in the industry.”

“We are all committed to maintaining the high level of customer confidence this represents. The Catalina philosophy means listening to our customers and doing our best every day. On that promise the Catalina family will continue to grow.” - Frank Butler, Catalina Yachts.

Now, with around half a century of production under their keel, Catalina's boat building chronology is too long to fit on this page.

So here are a couple of examples, or you can take a look yourself...

The Catalina Expo 14.2, first built in 1997.

The Catalina 385, as it appeared in Cruising World, Feb, 2012.
