The Red Bull Youth America's Cup team, American Youth Sailing Force, shifted gears for Summer Sailstice 2013 leaving the world of high tech carbon AC45s and instead checked into the world of 'high-speed' boatbuilding. They were one of five teams competing in the boatbuilding contest at Summer Sailstice at the Encinal Yacht Club. The competition? To build, launch and race a boat in a single day.
The final product of the boatbuilding competition was a narrow, low freeboard speedster that, importantly, floated and had the speed to beat the others round the course.
