ASA Schools Celebrate Sailing

What if you wanted to celebrate sailing and have never sailed before?  Or what if you've sailed but don't have a boat?  Or just wanted to try sailing for a day?  ASA is one of the organizations that could help you get on the water for the first time or get you back on the water after years away.  For the past 30 years ASA has been sailing, teaching and celebrating almost everywhere you find wind and water.  The American Sailing Association serves over 300 schools around the world and teaches thousands of people to sail every year.

As in past years many ASA schools are rallying around Summer Sailstice to create cruising rallies, open houses, MeetUp groups and numerous other ways to get on the water.  When you go to the event map you'll find numerous locations have events organized by an affiliated ASA club or school.  Some of the schools will welcome you for a day sail, others offer boats for charter and, of course, for the long term they can all teach you to sail or upgrade your current sailing skills.

What's happening so far in 2014?  Here's a sampling from the event page:

- British Virgin Islands: Bob Diamond of Spinnaker Sailing in Redwood City is taking a fleet to the BVI.

- San Juan Sailing in the Pacific Northwest is cruising the islands with a flotilla - possibly still space available.

- On Chesapeake Bay the Sail Solomons 'Sail Aweigh' will be underway.

- On San Francisco Bay, Tradewinds Sailing Center will have an Open House at their Richmond facility.

- Oakland California Afterguard Sailing hosts a MeetUp cruise anyone can join.

- Japan - Aoki Sailing School will be organizing a sunset sail

And you can see what many other ASA schools have done in the past like Sail Solomons on Chesapeake Bay.

ASA will have many more sailing opportunties on Summer Sailstice and all year round. Find a chance to sail with an ASA school and club near you.
